I’m Gill, an IT trainer at Just Click Here & I’m passionate about IT. I love helping people make the most of their IT skills to increase confidence and empower people in a quickly changing world. I create online resources to read, watch or download, in addition to delivering IT training courses and workshops regularly in Edinburgh, to help both individuals and businesses grow.

Experience and Qualifications

I have previously been employed as an IT tutor in Adult Education and an IT trainer in the charity sector. I then went on to work as a freelance writer and IT trainer. During this time I gained both a PGCE in Further Education and Training and a TPMA (Trainer Performance Monitoring & Assessment) accredited by the LPI (Learning and Performance Institute). I have also gained my official Microsoft Office Specialist Master qualifications.

As an IT tutor, I specialised in providing user-friendly learning materials on a wide range of software applications. Courses included office applications such as Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Office, Open Office, Libre Office and Google Workspace. I also designed courses in Serif software, and imaging applications such as Adobe Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, Paint.net and GIMP. I taught groups of mainly adult learners, from absolute beginners to advanced levels in colleges, libraries and community centres.

After almost ten years in the public sector, I moved into private sector, where I provided mainly Microsoft Office training. (Mostly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Access and Project.) During this time, I also regularly provided features and workshops for IT magazines, for instance Computer active. Articles included masterclass features (for example, GIMP) and workshops (for example, interactive quizzes in PowerPoint, an introduction to Splashup). Other articles included inserting watermarks in Microsoft Word and customising toolbars in Microsoft Office.
